Creating forms with hard plastic material on an elastic fabric is searching
transformation of 3d to 4d and trying to put physical features of materials together to shift their features between each other.
The project is an “material system” example that use plastic based 3d print material pla and elastic fabric and the system is showing different programmable results according to algoritms. While fabric is transforming its elasticity to plastik, plastik can not act 100% rigid. So the final material that has both features creates semi elastic forms. The rate of plastic material and the ratio of elasticity of fabric is directly effecting the semi elasticity and creates different results. To observe and analyse those parameters, biomimicry acted as a tool and with depth anatomic researches of sea urchin, form codes were developed to print on fabric. Each and every results that are taken from fabrication of prototypes were reported and revisions and arrangements were maden to reach optimum values in terms of 3d print control and form features; thickness, ratios. This created a multivariate process during design and fabrication.
